Canon Announces imageFORMULA P-208II Portable Document Scanner
MELVILLE, N.Y., May 5, 2015 - Canon U.S.A. – Latin America Group, a leader in digital imaging solutions, introduced today the imageFORMULA P-208II personal document scanner, the latest addition to Canon's highly successful line of mobile document scanners.
The P-208II is ideal for stationary users and "road warriors" in professional services, financial services, healthcare and other areas and provides general purpose scanning of various items, including receipts, business cards, photographs, bills, contracts, reports, letters and plastic cards.
Powered by a single USB cable when connected to a computer, the P-208II scanner helps to reduce cable clutter and to allow for a quick scanning process. Users can benefit from its small, lightweight size and flexibility to scan items with ease, while fitting into a briefcase or bag for easy portability.
The P-208II scanner allows users to "Plug-and-Scan," immediately and without installing drivers or imaging applications by a single USB cable connection. Additionally, a single click can automatically adjust multiple feature settings to easily deliver the P-208II's highest quality image possible. The bundled Canon CaptureOnTouch1 software enables users to simplify scanning tasks and scan directly to cloud applications such as Evernote®, Microsoft® SharePoint®, Google Drive™, SugarSync®, OneDrive™ and Dropbox®2. The P-208II scanner is also bundled with ISIS® and TWAIN drivers for easy integration with third-party capture or content management systems.
The P-208II scanner includes robust features such as text enhancement to help improve text legibility of hard-to-scan documents. When scanning mixed batches of documents and photographs, the scanner can automatically adjust the resolution to help improve image quality and reduce file size. Other features include the ability to optimize images of scanned photographs, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to help convert paper-based documents into a searchable text document that can be easily stored and shared.
Additionally, the P-208II scanner can scan both sides of an item at the same time, in color, grayscale and black and white at speeds up to 8 ppm / 16 ipm and is capable of handling a wide variety of document types, including thick, thin, or long documents, and plastic or embossed cards for superb productivity and flexibility. When combined with the optional WU10 Wireless Adapter and Battery Pack3, sold separately, the scanner not only works wirelessly in Windows and Mac environments, but also with iPad®, iPhone®, iPod touch® and Android™ mobile digital devices using the free downloadable Canon CaptureOnTouch Mobile app.
The P-208II scanner meets the ENERGY STAR energy efficiency criteria through an EPA recognized certification body. Additionally, the P-208II complies with both the EU RoHS and WEEE directives for the reduction of hazardous substances and waste products.
