Launch of new imagePROGRAF iPF78x and 68x series of large format printers
MELVILE, N.Y. September 11, 2014 – Canon Latin America Inc., is pleased to launch six new models in its imagePROGRAF lineup: four new five-color, large-format inkjet printers – the 36” iPF785 and iPF780, and the 24” iPF685 and iPF680 – and two new large-format Scan to Print / File / Share systems – the iPF785 MFP M40 and iPF780 MFP M40. These devices all offer faster printing speeds and lower operation costs than their predecessors, as well as upgraded software that provides greater flexibility and efficiency in printing from almost anywhere
The newest additions to Canon’s technical document large format printer lineup aim to boost productivity, while staying true to some of the great legacy features. Faster draft printing, increased ink tank sizes, and software enhancements help make printing easier and more convenient than ever before. The sub-ink tank system, large on-board hard drive (found in the iPF785 and iPF685 models), and user-friendly assembly all carry over to help ensure the printer operates seamlessly into your workflow.

Addressing the needs of a diverse range of users, Canon includes or makes available via download software to help users create more productive and efficient workflows. Direct Print & Share 2.0 software has a “Shortcut Print” feature that allows users to drag and drop files they wish to print into hot folders on their desktop. Canon’s new imagePROGRAF Print Utility mobile app helps facilitate wireless printing from an iPad.
PosterArtist Lite includes everything you need to create professional looking posters, signs, and banners in just four easy steps. Sharing designs has never been easier than with the latest release:
- New .cpfx file format saves all poster data including clipart and fonts
- Share .cpfx files instantly via Direct Print & Share Cloud Portal Solution
The new optional SmartWorks MFP V3.5 Plus, gives users the ability to scan and print multi-page PDF documents on the fly. This allows users to take multiple drawings or documents, scan them in using the M40 scanner, and either save or print this set as one multi-page document. In addition to this added feature, users can now perform color corrections and automatically crop the borders on their files using the preview mode and large touch-screen monitor, to ensure that they will be obtaining the desired output. The Plus version also supports PDF/A archiving functionality.
PosterArtist includes all the essential features customers need to easily create posters, signs, and banners. To make sharing simple, PosterArtist now offers the ability to save posters including clipart and fonts, to a new file format. This complete file can be exported directly from PosterArtist to Canon’s Direct Print & Share cloud portal software for sharing between users.
In addition, many third party software companies have made solutions available for use with the new imagePROGRAF printers. Cloud4MPS is a solution to manage FM and cost per copy placements by reporting back status and usage readings, consumable management, and more. Compatible third party software solutions are currently available from SA International, EFI, AIT, Shiraz, Caldera, ColorGate, DEV Studio, SCP, and PosterJet.
