Canon introduces new low cost ink efficient PIXMA E-Series printers

New PIXMA E481, E461 and E401 Printers Help Provide Cost Savings for Budget Conscious Users

MELVILLE, N.Y., January 27, 2015 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., Latin America Group, a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today a new PIXMA printer lineup for the Latin America markets. The PIXMA E-Series printers, designed to provide users with increased savings and affordability with low cost ink cartridges as compared to the traditional PIXMA printers, consists of three new printers: the PIXMA E481 Wireless1 Inkjet Office All-In-One, the PIXMA E461* Wireless1 All-In-One and PIXMA E401* All-In-One printers.  Home and cost-conscious users in particular will be impressed with the latest additions to the PIXMA printer line, which combine ease-of-use, low operating costs and printing functionalities ideal for day-to-day use. These printers feature cost-effective ink cartridges, which can result in significant cost savings and added flexibility for users with varied printing needs or those who have limited their printing due to the price of the ink.

“Canon always works to provide customers with cost-effective solutions that make printing easier and more accessible,” said Kenji Kobayashi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Canon U.S.A. Latin America Group. “The new Canon PIXMA E-Series of printers provides users with low-cost ink cartridges, so increased savings and key printing capabilities can go hand-in-hand.”

The PIXMA E481 and PIXMA E461* printers feature advanced wireless connectivity capabilities, providing users with the flexibility to print jobs from nearly anywhere in their home or office. One such capability is Access Point Mode, which allows users to connect a mobile device to the printer directly, removing the need for an external wireless access point, such as a router. Additionally, the printers are compatible with two applications designed to make printing easier – the PIXMA Printing Solutions2 (PPS) application, and the Easy-PhotoPrint+ application. PPS provides users with direct access to the cloud from their smartphone or tablet through PIXMA Cloud Link3 to easily print and scan images and documents from several of the most popular online social platforms and services, such as Facebook®, Twitter®, Flickr®, Photobucket®, Dropbox®, Evernote®, Creative Park and Creative Park Premium along with the newly-supported Google DriveTM and Microsoft® OneDrive™. Easy-PhotoPrint+, a free web-based application, provides users with access to photos from their local drive or social platforms to create a large variety of editing options on different mediums, including photo prints, collages, calendars, cards, layouts and stickers.

Featuring a compact design that is 30 percent smaller than previous models, the PIXMA E481 printer is ideal for users looking to save space in areas such as a home office, while maintaining all of the traditional, easy-to-use office features necessary for day-to-day use, including advanced wireless connectivity and fast print speeds.  The Canon PIXMA E481 printer offers multiple office printing benefits including an automatic document feeder (ADF)4, borderless printing5, fax function, and fast print speeds of approximately 8.8 images per minute (ipm) for black6 and white prints, and 4.4 ipm for color6. Additionally, the compact size of the PIXMA E481 printer enables the printer to fit in areas with limited space. The printer also offers durable and high-quality printing with a four-color hybrid ink system that combines dye ink for vivid colors and black pigment ink for sharp text.   The PIXMA E481 printer can make printing more affordable for home office users by enabling them to print up to 400 pages in black and white, and up to 300 pages in Color with the new low-cost high-yield capacity ink cartridges.

Students and home cost-conscious users in particular will be delighted with the PIXMA E401* printer. Extremely easy to set up, this model not only combines convenient and powerful printing capabilities; it also features highly affordable ink cartridges. This allows students to shine when printing school papers and projects affordably, while home-users can enjoy reliable printing at a low printing cost.

The PIXMA E461* and E401* printers utilize a FINE ink cartridge system, and are compatible with high-yield capacity ink cartridges, which have the ability to generate more prints per cartridge compared to other printers of the same range. This effectively reduces printing costs and downtime when changing cartridges. Additionally, both printers feature a paper tray that holds 60-sheets of letter-size plain paper or 20 sheets of 4” x 6” photo paper or 10 sheets of 5” x 7” photo paper, making the printers ideal for home printing projects, such as printing family photos or recipes.
